Process

20+ Years designing interiors

Once onboard, our process is flexible and responsive. All clients are unique – some clients already have a strong aesthetic and want to contribute to their design while others wish for us to guide them as they form their ideas and aesthetic. In either scenario we support each client in achieving their vision.

Our professional network consists of licensed builders, artisans, landscape designers, and custom fabricators formed over many years.

As Built Plans for remodels

Oftentimes when remodeling an existing structure, there were no existing plans for us to start with and therefore a field visit is in order.  We measure and translate the field measurements with AutoCAD software. For remodels and commercial renovations, it all begins with precise and thorough as-built drawings.  We may bring in a third party to measure for larger projects.

CAD Plans for Design Development and Permitting

Schematic Design presents the general idea for a project and Design Development focuses and refines it.  Our CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) plans fill in all the details.  The final set of drawings will specify every element of the project, from the structure to the paint colors. We prepare plans for permit submital by others.

Furniture Space Planning

Space planning is a fundamental element of the interior design process.  The furniture space plan will also define the circulation patterns that show how people will move through the space. The plan includes details of all the furniture, equipment, fixture and hardware placement

Furniture, Window treatments and Art Procurement

We select and specify everything in the room that isn’t bolted to the structure of the building.  These are the finishing details that complete the design. When procuring furnishings we extend clients a percentage off the MSRP which varies from each manufacturer.

Custom Millwork and Furniture Design

Millwork is all of those dramatic designer details that give a spectacular custom look and complements the overall architectural design of a home. Millwork can include crown molding, finished trim work, interior doors, board and batten and wainscoting. We will also custom design furniture, cabinetry and built-ins.

Quality & Safety

Our team ensures that your interior spaces are functional, safe, and beautiful by determining space requirements and selecting all materials, fixtures and finishes appropriate to the project. We are aware of building codes and inspection regulations, as well as universal accessibility standards.

Project Management

Project management is one of the most crucial parts of a successful project.  We coordinate the entire project, from start to finish.  We continuously gauge the cost, time, and quality. It is our priority to maintain a balance between these three elements for the entire project.

Specifying Fixtures and Finishes

Fixtures are items that are attached to the house including lighting and plumbing fixtures, appliances, hardware and many more. These are typically items that will be staying in the house permanently.

Finishes are all surface materials such as flooring, tile, cabinets, doors, hardware, wall texture, etc.

RHD will source and specify all of these items as the project requires.

Installation

A great interior installation appears seamless and near perfection.  Even with the best planning and organization, RHD will be on-site to oversee this installation process as well as resolve any issues that may arise so that you can move in and celebrate your new space!

We often partner with a local third party receiver and delivery team to bring white glove installation to your finished home.

It’s all about the details

A Seamless Result

We meticulously select every material and finish from floor to ceiling.  From there, each installation is planned out and specified to the finest detail.

All material and finish integrations are laid out with intention and executed with precision.
